Jara Long Hand-Block Printed Cotton Kimono Coat

A beautifully expressive, softly padded kimono coat crafted from 100% cotton in a warm, light Malibu hue. The traditional hand-block-printed floral design gives each piece its unique artisanal character, while the inside is lined with airy cotton voile featuring contrasting hand-block-printed stars.

The upper body and shoulders are richly finished with our black hand-guided machine cotton embroidery, adding depth and a striking handcrafted detail. A soft shawl collar, three mother-of-pearl buttons at chest height and a matching belt allow the coat to be worn open, buttoned or wrapped at the waist. Practical side pockets complete the relaxed design.

The wide three-quarter-length kimono sleeves can be adjusted with mother-of-pearl buttons for a closer fit. Style it over denim and a simple top for an effortless everyday statement, or layer it over a dress for a more dressed-up look.

Q & A

How do you produce your fabrics?
We have sourced raw materials from our fabric manufacturers in India since 2004. We dye, print, and embroider everything ourselves.

Do you work exclusively with natural materials?
Yes, we mainly use pure cotton, linen, and silk. Occasionally, we create garments in viscose.

Do you work with multiple suppliers around the world?
No. Apart from our silk supplier in China, everything has been handled in-house by our long-standing and only manufacturer in India since 2004.

Can your cotton garments be washed at 40°C?
Yes, but we always recommend washing them at 30°C especially our traditionally handprinted block prints.

How should your silk garments be washed?
For a longer lifespan, we recommend hand washing. However, they can also be machine washed on a short, gentle cycle in a laundry bag, using detergent suitable for silk or wool, or olive oil soap.

Is there anything special to consider when washing batik-patterned garments?
Yes, do not leave batik-patterned garments to soak in water.

Wash with care
Wash only when needed and choose a low temperature whenever possible. We recommend washing cotton at 30°C.

Be gentle with delicate fabrics
Silk can often simply be aired between wears. When washing is needed, hand wash whenever possible. If using a washing machine, choose a short, gentle cycle and use a laundry bag. Never soak batik-patterned garments.

Embrace the natural texture
Cotton, linen, and silk can be ironed, but they do not have to be. Leave them unironed for a softer, more relaxed look.

Do you work with external designers?
No. I’m Elina, and I design all of our styles.

How do you collaborate with your manufacturing partner in India?
I spend three months of every year on-site in India. Together with our local team, I develop each new collection: from season to season, year after year.
